The use of modified constant concentration techniques to measure infiltration and interzone air flow rates.

The constant concentration tracer gas (CCTG) technique is typically used to measure air infiltration rates in mulitzone buildings. The measurements are performed by injecting metered amounts of a tracer gas into each zone so as to keep all the zones at a target concentration. One drawback to this method is that no information is gained about the level of interzone flow rates in the building. Modified constant concentration techiques are described which allow selected infiltration and interzone air flow rates to be estimated.

Classification and characteristics of particular methods of investigations on thermal energy balance in dwelling houses aiming at determination of economy attained owing to modernization measures, are presented in the paper. Guidelines on execution of respective measurements and on working out theinvestigation results are given.

Comparison of measured and predicted infiltration using the LBL infiltration model.

The Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (LBL) infiltration model was developed in 1980; since that time many simultaneous measurements of infiltration and weather have been made, allowing comparison of predictions with measured infiltration. This report presents the LBL model as it currently exists andsummarizes infiltration measurements and corresponding predictions. Thesemeasurements include both long-term and short-term data taken in houses with climates ranging from the mild San Francisco Bay area the the more extreme Midwest.

Three sensor hot wire/film technique for three dimensional mean and turbulence flow field measurement.

Describes methods of measuring the three-dimensional flow field using a three-sensor hot-wire probe, with emphasis on the techniques developed by the author's group at the Pennsylvania State University. The hot-wire equations, data processing procedure, calibration techniques, and a discussion of various errors in the measurement are included. Some typical data acquired by thisprobe is also included.

Distribution of ambient radon and radon daughters in New York - New Jersey residences.

Reports investigation into the radon dose from inhaled radon daughters during exposure indoors. The initial phase of the investigation comprised detailed measurements of radon daughter concentrations in each of four locations in the New York area. The investigation has now broadened considerably. Time-integrated measurements of radon concentrations and working levels have been obtained in twenty dwellings in New York and New Jersey in a two year period with which to estimate annual mean exposures of the inhabitants.
