Gives some conclusions from a detailed computer analysis of the energy consumption of 600 branch bank buildings of The Bank of Novia Scotia, spread across Canada. Divides energy management into 3 categories:

  1. Energy waste - reduction of energy consumption by occupants eg controlling operation of exhaust fans and providing weather seals for exterior doors.
  2. Energy conservation - employment of sophisticated systems to reduce energy consumption eg time controls on exhaust systems and fresh air inlets.
  3. Energy efficient design eg disconnecting power to all exhaust fans at night.
