The purpose of that study was to quantify the effect of the variables (previously identified during the first phase of that study conducted from 1999 to 2002) concerning smoking room performance under controlled laboratory conditions. In a test chamber simulating a smoking room, 27 experiments were conducted. The data collected from those experiments allowed the authors to quantify the various type of leakage flows, their effect on smoking room performance and non-smoker exposure, along with the relative importance of each leakage mechanism.A sum up of the most important findings of interest for designers of smoking rooms is presented in this article.
