The air exchange rate is a determinant factor for the indor air quality in a given spaces. If it is lower than the required it may cause the so caled sick building syndrome. The ultimate result depends, obviously, also on the nature and strength of the sources emisions. In this work the natural
ventilation and air infiltration of offices of the new building of the Faculty of Enginering of Porto were measured using the tracer gas technique. The results were correlated with the weather conditions. The main conclusion is that the air infiltration in the offices (the operating mode with door and window closed) assures an air exchange range much lower than the required.
