EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF NETWORKING ACTIVITIES ON THE QUALITY OF RESULTS OBTAINED WHEN APPLYING SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION TECHNIQUES TO IN-SITU MEASUREMENTS FOR ASSESSING ENERGY PERFORMANCE OF BUILDING COMPONENTS

The application of system identification techniques to the energy performance of buildings and building components requires a very high level of knowledge of physical and mathematical processes. This factor, combined with the quality of the data, the description of the monitoring environment and procedure, together with the experience of the user of the analysis software itself, can end up in varying results from different users when applying different models and software packages.

CFD-controlled climate design of the archeological tombs of valley of kings

Airflow characteristics in ventilated and air-conditioned spaces play an important role to attain comfort and hygiene conditions. This paper utilizes a 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model to assess the airflow characteristics in ventilated and air-conditioned archeological tombs of Egyptian Kings in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt.

Air-conditioning systems' developments in hospitals: comfort, air quality, and energy utilization

The balance between thermal comfort and air quality in healthcare facilities to optimize the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is the main aim of this paper. The present paper will present this balance from the viewpoint of the air conditioning design. It was found that the design of the HVAC airside systems plays an important role for achieving the optimum air quality beside the optimum comfort level. This paper highlights the importance of the proper airside design on the IAQ.

Importancia dos ensaios de recepcao das instalacoes de climatizacao

Commissioning plays an essential role for ensuring the quality of any HVAC system. Without detailed commissioning procedures, important deviations from design specifications may exist and not be detected, reducing the system performance and increasing operational costs. This paper describes the measurements performed during commissioning of a HVAC system for a swimming pool delivered as ready by a contractor, showing important deviations that needed correction.

A method to reduce European chiller hourly load curves to a few points

EECCAC is an EU funded project, where twelve participants (National Energy Agencies, Manufacturers, University laboratories and Electric utilities) from eight countries gathered to identify the most suitable measures to achieve market transformation in the direction of energy efficiency of central air conditioning systems in Europe. Its basement was the Eurovent manufacturers wish to develop a seasonal performance index for chillers in Europe, so as to compare their performances not only on full load, which is not representative of chiller average performances, but also on part load.

Climatization in operating theatres

Climatization systems in operating theatres must provide a comfortable and healthy environment for the patients and the surgical team; in fact, there are a multitude of factors to be considering and analyzing for avoiding the evidence of many problems such as hypothermia, anaesthetical gases pollution, thermal discomfort. Comfort conditions can be achieved by controlling microclimatic parameters and air movement; an healthy environment can be achieved minimizing the risks of contamination.

Modélisation des stores venitiens. Influence de leur gestion d'ouverture sur les bilans thermiques d'été

A model of Venetian blind associated simple or a double glazing is proposed in this article. Simplified modeling is based on a 2D approach (not taken into account of the effects edges) and separately treats the transmission of direct and the diffuse one. The evolutions of the form factors and the solar flows transmitted according to the degree of opening of the blind, of the slope of the plates, the position of the sun in the sky are taken into account and the models used are described.

Etude des performances d'un système de refraichissement evaporatif par désorption

In this paper the performance of a desiccant cooling system was evaluated. The system comprises a desiccant wheel in tandem with a thermal wheel with evaporative coolers in both air supply and return air streams before the thermal wheel. It allows cooling and dehumidifying air without using conventional refrigerants. A computer simulation was developed to study the effects of various designs and outdoor air conditions on the performance of the system. The simulations were run with SPARK, an object oriented program that allows creation of very flexible tools.

THE TRANSPARENCY AND REPEATABILITY OF BUILDING ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATION

The European Union’s (EU) Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) aims to increase the energy performance (EP) of buildings by requiring EU Member States to develop an EP calculation methodology and to certify the EP of their buildings. Dynamic s
