In the current context of energy crisis and with the debate on climate change, low-energy buildings are required. Designers have to come to a compromise between the energy consumption, the economic cost, the comfort and the environmental impact of the building. In this article, we focus on the development of an optimization method dealing with these objectives. The method, based on genetic algorithms, takes into account the multicriteria aspect of the building refurbishment. We discuss the pertinence of the method, its robustness and the part of simulations through its application on the refurbishment of school building in France. We suggest improvements for the optimization method.
