Reinforcement of air-tightness and thermalinsulation in the indoors leads to the declinein air-change rate. Moreover, due toincreased chemical substances on furniture, the indoor air-quality becomes worse andmay induce various health problenls, namelythe condition known as the Sick BuildingSyndrome(SB S).Many tools and methods are being developedto improve indoor air-quality. In this paper,we suggest a ventilation system with an aircleaningand heat-recovery unit in which theperformance of the ventilation system wasanalyzed through a field study. In the field study, the effects of theventilation system on indoor air-qualityunder various conditions were measured andexamined. As demonstrated in the field study, the ventilation-only mode or ventilation withair-cleaning mode in various settings provedthe system to be effective in each case interms of indoor air-quality and energy efficiency.
