Long-term efforts in Belgian research has led to the development of computer models for energy consumption predictions. Describes some simplified methodologies to be used for quick analysis of situations, especially in 2 cases:< 1. The analysis of the impact of certain design options on the thermal and energy balance of a house.< 2. The evaluation of retrofitting activities on larger scale "social" housing.< Does not produce absolutely accurate consumption figures, as too many parameters, such as shading problems and compartmentalization of rooms as regards ventilation are neglected or roughly estimated. Applied to long-period analysis (a yearly energy consumption) it gains in accuracy compared to more sophisticated prediction programmes.
