Airbase

AIRBASE is the Bibliographic Database of the AIVC. It contains publications and abstracts of articles related to energy efficient ventilation. Where possible, sufficient detail is supplied in the bibliographic details for users to trace and order the material via their own libraries. Topics include: ventilation strategies, design and retrofit methods, calculation techniques, standards and regulations, measurement methods, indoor air quality and energy implications etc. Entries are based on articles and reports published in journals, internal publications and research reports, produced both by university departments and by building research institutions throughout the world. AIRBASE has grown and evolved over many years (1979 to present day, over 22000 references and 16000 documents available online). For most of the references, the full document is also available online.

Access to the publications is free of charge.

The exposure of workers in the near-wake region due to a recirculating airflow was studied experimentally and numerically.
Kulmala I, Saamanen A, Enbom S
The concept of ventilation effectiveness for mechanical ventilation of an airspace is reviewed and associated parameters for describing the performance of ventilation systems are described.
Chow W K, Fung W Y
A major increase of complaints has been observed by the occupants of buildings, concerning health symptoms and comfort.
Lagoudi A, Loizidou M, Santamouris M, Asimakopoulos D
Tracer distribution measurements were performed to assess pollutant transport from basement garages situated in a commercial building and in two residential buildings, in which the occupants had reported typical garage odors and complained about b
Tappler P, Damberger B
The connection between health and cleanliness is, for most people, a matter of common sense. Office workers report higher rates of discomfort when they perceive a dirty, dusty environment.
Anon
Thermal comfort and air quality were studied in three multi-family buildings located in urban environments. Measurements of air velocities close to the supply devices are presented along with measurements of CO, TVOC, NO and N02.
Kruger U, Kraenzmer M
This paper provides a discussion on the use of the olf and the decipol.
Aizlewood C E, Raw G J, Oseland N A
Domestic gas apparatus generate oxides of nitrogen (NOx), which have been classed in recent years as problem products in the context of indoor air quality (IAQ).
Zorraquino J V M, del Campo Diaz V, San Jose R G
People who suffer from airborne respiratory allergies often advised to obtain and rely upon portable HEPA filtered air devices for relief.
Olcerst R B
During the period August 1993-0ctober 1994 a study was undertaken throughout British Telecommunications pie to assess occupational exposure to radon.
Wiegand K, Dunne S P
Active sub-slab depressurization (SSD) systems are an effective means of reducing indoor radon concentrations in residential buildings.
Riley W J, Fisk W J, Gadgil A J
Radon is an inert radioactive gas released into the atmosphere from certain minerals and man-made products in which it is produced. It can accumulate in confined spaces.
Mocsy I, Hunyadi I, Burkhardt R, Fulea C
This study has the objective of applying the "age of air" concept and tracer gas techniques in the evaluation of ventilation characteristics of workplaces equipped with a general ventilation system.
