Reports on a study carried out by HUDAC and DBR on four identical detached houses built in Ontario in 1977. House 1 was built according to the insulation requirements of the 1975 Ontario Building Code, the others were constructed with increased levels of insulation and air tightness. Some of the aims are:

  1. To demonstrate the energy saving resulting from increasing insulation and air tightness
  2. To determine heat loss through different sections of the houses
  3. To determine the accuracy of mathematical models in predicting energy consumption in houses
  4. To look at the effect of occupancy on the energy usage in houses.
  5. Gives a summary of results.
