In this paper we analyze by means ofbuilding simulation the effect of differentparameter combinations on the non-heating andnon-cooling temperatures of a typical airconditionedoffice building. The examinedparameters are: thermal insulation, thermalinertia, ratio of glazed surfaces, type ofwindows and shading devices, envelopepermeability, ventilation type, installedappliances and lighting power, heating andcooling set point temperatures..The paper suggests the constructive solutionsthat lead to concept buildings with three distinctseasons: a heating season, two mid seasonswithout the need for heating or cooling, acooling season. Moreover, we analyse thepossibility to use free cooling during the heatingand the mid seasons to avoid overheating. This study is an introduction to the definitionof a new concept of air-conditioned buildings, with optimized envelope and HVAC systems, called CLIMHYBU (Hybrid air-conditioning ofoffice buildings).
