The object oriented (00) approach to software engineering offers new possibilities for the modelling of plant systems within a building context. This paper describes the development of the EKS plant modelling classes which facilitates the automatic creation and maintenance of plant system simulation models. The paper focuses on the following aspects:A generic software structure which allows the creation of a wide range of state-of-the-art plant/ control system models; A dynamic model building structure which allows a simulation program to be built with minimum number of component modules required and therefore eliminates the burden of redundant components.
