Airtightness measurements on calcium silicate ductwork

Calcium Silicate fire protection boards can be used to construct fireproof ductwork for smoke extraction and/or HVAC services. In this paper, the airtightness of the duct system is evaluated.

A study of optimal arrange of vent in a subway station

The subway station is a special location with very dense crowd. Because subway station situates in underground, people can not evacuate to ground easily. Once a fire occurs in subway station, it is very dangerous for people to stay in it. So, a well designed smoke exhaust system must be installed in subway station to control the smoke’s propagation and descending.

Fire and Smoke Management in a Uni-Directional Road Tunnel for a Congested Traffic Condition

Emergency smoke ventilation for a uni-directional traffic road tunnel is studied using a CFD modelling approach. Fire scenarios in an uphill ramp for congested traffic conditions have been considered. Based on a longitudinal smoke ventilation system with a damper smoke-extraction device on the ceiling soffit, the impact of longitudinal ventilation (LV) control, operation of fire suppression intervention and emergency response delay have been quantitatively investigated.
