The keynote speakers for the 38th AIVC - 6th TightVent - 4th venticool conference: "Ventilating healthy low-energy buildings" have been announced. The joint conference, co-organized by the International Network on Ventilation and Energy Performance (INIVE), on behalf of the Air Infiltration and Ventilation Centre (AIVC), TightVent Europe (the Building and Ductwork Airtightness Platform) and venticool (the international platform for ventilative cooling, Brunel University London, the University of Nottingham & CIBSE, takes place Sept. 13-14, 2017, in Nottingham, UK.
The 38th AIVC conference "Ventilating healthy low-energy buildings" will be held on 13 and 14 September 2017 in Nottingham (UK). It will also be the 6th TightVent conference and the 4th venticool conference.
A new tool developed within the framework of IEA-EBC Annex 62 project has been launched. The ventilative cooling potential tool (VC tool) aims to assess the potential effectiveness of ventilative cooling strategies by taking into account climate conditions, building envelope thermal properties, occupancy patterns, internal gains and ventilation needs. The excel-based tool is freely accessible and available at the venticool website.
The evaluation questionnaire of the AIVC workshop on IAQ metrics: “Is ventilation the answer to indoor air quality control in buildings? Do we need performance-based approaches?” held in Brussels, March 14-15, 2017 was sent out to all 70 attendees of the event. A summary of the results with feedback from 43 of the participants is now available here.
The annual report of 2016 of the International Energy Agency’s Energy in Buildings and Communities (IEA-EBC) Programme has just been released. This report presents an overview of the Programme’s main activities with summaries of new, ongoing and recently completed projects.
The 38th AIVC conference "Ventilating healthy low-energy buildings" will be held on 13 and 14 September 2017 in Nottingham (UK). It will also be the 6th TightVent conference and the 4th venticool conference.

Systems providing space heating, ventilation, space cooling and/or domestic hot water (HVAC) to residential or commercial buildings are playing a major role in the building energy performance. Eurovent Certita Certification manages a voluntary certification of the performance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning products, under the European mark “Eurovent Certified Performance”. Such a certification increases confidence in the published performance data of products and provides an easier access to input data for calculation of a building’s energy performance.

Building air leakage rate is taken into account in energy calculations, but mainly with default tabulated values. With tabulated values, there is an option to use measured values instead of more conservative tabulated values. Regarding compliance, usually there is no requirement to measure and verify the building air leakage rate (except in France).
The abstract submission for the 38th AIVC – 6th TightVent – 4th venticool conference: “Ventilating healthy low-energy buildings” to be held in Nottingham, UK on September 13-14, 2017 has closed, initiating the review process of the abstracts received.
Authors will be notified regarding the acceptance of their abstracts by April 1, 2017. Full papers are due May 31, 2017.
