The current development in building energy efficiency towards nearly-zero energy buildings (nZEB) represents a number of new challenges to design and construction. One of the major new challenges is the increased need for cooling arising in these highly insulated and airtight buildings. The cooling demand depends less on the outdoor temperature, and more on solar radiation and internal heat gains. This naturally gives better potential for the use of ventilative cooling technologies, because the cooling need is not only in summer, but actually all year round.
Venticool, EBC Annex 62 "Ventilative Cooling", and the Air Infiltration and Ventilation Centre are organizing the webinar “Ventilative Cooling – design and examples” to be held on Thursday 26th March 2020 at 15:00-16:30 (CET). This webinar will present the main outcomes of IEA EBC Annex 62 on ventilative cooling design as well as give examples of applications and lessons learned.
TightVent Europe and AIVC are organizing the webinar “Durability of airtightness- assessment through laboratory tests” to be held on Friday 21st February 2020 at 10:30-11:30 (CET). This is the second webinar organized on this topic (Information on the first webinar of this series can be found here).
Mark your calendars for the upcoming AIVC 2020 International Workshop "Urban Home Ventilation" to be held on May 6th, 2020 in Oslo, Norway! The workshop will start at 08:30 AM and finish at 04:00PM. It will take place at OsloMet (Pilestredet 46, Oslo, Norway). The main focus will be on ventilation requirements, trends, and quality, moisture and comfort control and kitchen ventilation. Information on registration, programme, speakers etc. will follow soon, so stay tuned.
The conference "IAQ 2020: Indoor Environmental Quality Performance Approaches Transitioning from IAQ to IEQ", organized by ASHRAE and AIVC will be held on September 14-16, 2020 in Athens, Greece. The conference will also be the 9th TightVent and 7th venticool conference.

Welcome to the December 2019 issue of the venticool newsletter! In this edition, we are pleased to share highlights of our recent AIVC-venticool- TightVent joint conference “From Energy crisis to sustainable indoor climate – 40 years of AIVC" held on 15-16 October in Ghent, Belgium.
The abstract submission deadline for the 41st AIVC – ASHRAE - IAQ joint Conference “IAQ 2020: Indoor Environmental Quality Performance Approaches Transitioning from IAQ to IEQ” to be held from the 14th to the 16th of September 2020 in Athens, Greece together with the 9th TightVent and the 7th venticool conferences, has been extended to 23 December, 2019.
