Detailed multi-zone air flow analysis in the early building design phase

This paper describes a new tool, ils architecture and its predictive performance. BACH is a computational tool for air flow simulation in and around buildings in the early stages of the design process.

Improving speed and robustness of the COMIS solver.

The numerical investigation of airflow and chemical transport characteristics for a general class of buildings involves identifying values for model parameters, such as effective leakage areas and temperatures, for which a fair amount of uncertainty exists. A Monte Carlo simulation, with parameter values drawn from likely distributions using Latin Hypercube sampling, helps to account for these uncertainties by generating a corresponding distribution of simulated results.

Comparison of multizone air flow measurements and simulations of the LESO building including sensitivity analysis.

The LESO building is a three storey, medium-sized office building on the campus of the Swiss Institute of Technology in Lausanne. In this building component leakages have been carefully determined followed by extensive measurements of the boundary conditions as well as the air flows. This paper first gives some basic concepts of the evaluation and the sensitivity analysis. Then, the measured data are compared with results from simulations performed with the COMIS multizone air flow program.
