The AIVC of the 20th Century

This report reviews the activities of the AIVC during its first twenty years of operation. It identifies key projects and addresses them in the context of research activities and associated issues of the time. Early issues included the need for energy conservation and reducing air infiltration loss. Much work concentrated on assessing the performance of numerical models and acquiring input and validation measurement data. Towards the end of the period attention focused towards energy efficient ventilation systems for good indoor air quality and comfort.

Update of the spanish regulation regarding ventilation and infiltration: analysis, comparisons and repercussions

The Spanish Technical Building Code is one of the three royal decrees that were approved in Spain as a consequence of the transposition of the European Directive on the energy performance of buildings (2002/91/EU) [1]. One basic document of the Technical Building Code deals with the limitations in the energy demand of buildings. Nowadays, due to the recast of the European Directive on the energy performance of buildings (2010/31/EU) [2], a revision process of the current regulations has begun, starting with the Technical Building Code, with its first revision envisaged for 2012.

ISO/TC 163 THERMAL PERFORMANCE AND ENERGY USE IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT, SC 2: CALCULATION METHODS

The International Organization for standardization (ISO), Technical Committee 163 "ThermalPerformance and Energy Use in the Built Environment" (ISO/TC 163) is dealing with development oftools that can be used to design and construct or retrofit energy efficient buildings and installations. Theoverall aim for this is to reduce our dependency of non-renewable resources and to reduce theemission of harmful substances to the air. Methods are needed for the evaluation of the energyperformance of complete buildings and parts of buildings or building installations.

OVERVIEW OF ISO/TC 163 "THERMAL PERFORMANCE AND ENERGY USE IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT" AND ACTIVITIES WITH SUSTAINABLE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Methods are needed for the evaluation of the energy performance of complete buildings and parts ofbuildings or building installations. In order to arrive at energy efficient buildings, materials and productsthat effectively contribute to the thermal performance of the building and its installations must be used. For that standards dealing with the design and evaluation of materials, components and systems playan important role.

European research project RE-VIS, daylighting products with redirecting visual properties

The European RTD project REVIS, Daylighting products with redirecting visual properties (contract JOE3- CT98-0096), started in October 1998 and was completed by the end of 2000. The project was coordinated by TNO. The presentation highlights the objectives, means and some of the main results.
