The trend towards nearly zero energy buildings and increasingly airtight buildings presents specific challenges for cooker hoods in residential buildings. The use of cooker hoods raises a number of important questions. What are the key issues of concern? What are the current trends? How should performance be assessed in terms of energy and indoor climate? Are there specific challenges associated with their application in very low energy buildings or renovation projects? What are the expectations of occupants, and is there a lack of awareness among users? To what extent can standards/regulations act as drivers or barriers?
