In 2008, a series of Ventilation Information Papers (VIP 17 to VIP 27) was published detailing the “Trends in the building ventilation market and drivers for changes” in 10 countries. However, regulations have evolved considerably in most countries since then.
The aim of this project is to develop a new VIP series providing updates on current ventilation regulations in European countries.
For the ventilation status, the proposed points of attention, in addition to those covered in the original VIPs, are non-residential buildings (schools, offices, commercial buildings), in situ ventilation system performance, ventilation system inspection, and a subsection about the influence of the Covid19 crisis. Also, highly relevant for the new VIPs are the increased focus on ventilation in the EPBD revision and the mandatory requirements regarding inspection. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, new research, standardisation and regulatory programmes have also been initiated to ensure that cross contamination in indoor environments is better controlled in the future.
